What we publish
We publish calculators and explanations for common building-materials questions where a reliable formula exists and a clear answer helps someone buy the right amount.
Accuracy and sources
Every calculator lists its formula, assumptions and sources with the date they were checked. We prefer primary sources: manufacturer technical data, industry associations and standards bodies. Values that vary by product are labelled as typical and can be edited.
Review
Calculations are checked against hand-worked examples and automated tests. Where we add a named expert reviewer to a page, we only list verifiable credentials. We do not display a reviewer until one has actually reviewed the page.
Use of AI
We may use AI tools to help draft or edit text. A human checks every formula, number and claim before publication, and calculated numbers on pages (such as quick answers) are generated by our tested calculation engine — not written by hand or by AI.
Corrections
Report an error through our contact page. We verify, fix and record material changes in the change log. "Updated" dates only change when content materially changes.
Independence
Advertising and affiliate relationships never influence calculation results or which products a default value is based on.
